A Look at Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady

Updated March 18, 2023

Virgin Voyages’ first cruise ship, the Scarlet Lady, will set sail in April 2020. The Scarlet Lady is the first of Virgin’s four planned vessels. This bold new cruise ship will be based in Miami and sail to the Caribbean and Mexico. Their three to five-night itineraries include port stops in Key West, Puerto Plata, Cozumel, and Costa Maya. Plus, you will visit Virgin’s private Beach Club on Bimini Island in the Bahamas, where you can hang by the pool while their DJ spins some tunes or relax in the evening with a bonfire on the beach. Bimini was voted one of The New York Times 52 Places to Go in 2020.

The Suite Life on the Scarlet Lady

I recently had the opportunity to take a sneak peek at some of their suites and cabins. Designed to reflect what you might find on a sleek luxury yacht, each space has clever touches and plenty of innovative technology. With 1,330 cabins onboard the Scarlet Lady, there are enough cabin choices to suit every budget. Choose a Mega RockStar Suites or pick one of the Sea Terrace, Sea View, or insider cabins.

The Brilliant Suite is enormous. At almost 400 square feet, it is big enough to host a party. It comes with a fully-stocked in-room bar, a 4K flat-screen TV, a vinyl record player, and a champagne table. Depending on the time of day, the mood lighting automatically adjusts from blue to gold to purple.

The terrace is the real gem in this suite! It is spacious, with enough space for two lounge chairs, a hammock, and an outdoor shower. Truly a private oasis. The Scarlet Lady cabins are all about the views, with 93 percent of the cabins offering an ocean view and 86 percent featuring a Sea Terrace.

If you just want to relax, this suite sleeps four comfortably. There is a European King size bed, plus an L-shaped sofa that converts into a bed for two. The peek-a-boo window in the bathroom allows for sea views from the large marble shower at all times. With the roomier rain shower, you may never want to get out.

Transformational Cabin Spaces

The XL Sea Terrace has been smartly designed as well. The seabed goes from a couch to a European queen-sized bed in just seconds. This gives you plenty of room to chill out during the day or get some zzz’s at night. You can easily do it yourself or leave it to the crew, who are happy to make and unmake your bed with luxury linens.

The Sea Terrace cabins have a nice-sized balcony with outdoor seating and a handwoven hammock as well. This cozy retreat has intuitive mood lighting, a nice sized bathroom with a roomier rain shower, and a glam table, making it easy to ready.

All-Inclusive and Adult Only

Sorry kids, Virgin’s cruises are for adults only (18+). With the launch of Scarlet Lady, they sought to create an all-inclusive experience that combines high-energy moments with relaxation and rejuvenation. Unlike any other cruise ship in the industry, the Scarlet Lady will have a tattoo studio, karaoke lounge, record shop, and top-tier entertainment.

Virgin appreciates that sailors enjoy the finer things in life. Meaning you can have Champagne anytime, anywhere on the Scarlet Lady. Enjoy a glass of Möet Chandon in the Champagne Lounge and Caviar Bar, or use your phone to Shake for Champagne™, and it will be delivered right to you!

All-inclusive means all 2,770 Sailors, as Virgin prefers to call their passengers, will enjoy basic beverages and dining at any of their 20+ restaurants. Plus, WiFi, group fitness classes, and gratuities are on them as well.

  1. I’ve never been on a cruise but after reading your post it’s tempting! Especially as the Scarlet Lady has an 18+ policy.

  2. I havent done a cruise yet but a lot of people get begging me to try it out at least once in my life. In the pass I used to think cruise ships were like tug boats with a bit of doom and gloom but looking at the Scarlet Lady I think I could get use to the idea of traveling on the sea with comfort. The beds look comfortable and I would love to have a room with a balcony and take in those sea views. I might have to take a peak and see how much 😉

  3. Yes, I will take the Brilliant Suite at 400 sq ft and hold a party there,! That will be so great.

  4. The cabins on this ship look fabulous! Modern and comfortable and the bottle of French champagne is a nice touch. Never been on a cruise but everything I read about it is tempting me

There are so many different types of cruises. Virgin is unique as it is 18+/adult only. They are catering to a much different clientele than other ships. Their Shake for Champagne app is very cool if you want Champagne delivered anywhere anytime 🙂

  5. Wow, the Scarlet Lady looks so luxurious! Fabulous features too – like the Shake for Champagne, hammocks on the balcony and the addition of a vinyl record player. What kind of records did they have? A little surprised by the tattoo parlor. I could see the ink and the stories that inspired them becoming a book.

It is such a cool ship with an awesome vibe that so different than other cruises I have been on. The albums I saw in the suites were a great mix from David Bowie to the Rolling Stones to the Sex Pistols. And yes, the tattoo parlor on a cruise ship is certainly a first!

  6. It was great to take a look at this first Virgin Voyages ship. I do like the idea that the ships are adult only. The Brilliant Suite looks like a great spot to enjoy all that space to yourself. Champagne any time and any where is certainly a good draw! Will definitely need to check out the cruise itineraries.

  7. Oh wow, this cruise sounds fabulous. The Scarlet Lady suite looks very comfortable indeed, and I love the mood lighting colour change. I can’t believe there are twenty restaurants on board to dine in, and a karaoke lounge too! I need to try this cruise.

  8. Oh my goodness! This sounds like a cruise I would REALLY enjoy. I love that there is a terrace with an outdoor shower. I also like that it’s for adults only. I love kids, but sometimes when I’m on vacation I want it to be adult only. is the real gem in this suite! It is spacious with enough space for two lounge chairs, hammock, and an outdoor shower.

  9. Wow!!! What a luxurious cruise this looks like. It makes me want to fly over and jump on right now. Virgin really have it going on don’t they. I love how amazing the rooms look, I think it’d be hard to leave them. It’ll be interesting to see people’s experiences once it sets sail.

Adult only is a wonderful option. The average age of the passengers will likely between 35-55. It should be fun!
